Eider down comes from the Eider Duck. Eider down is exceptionally soft and has insulating properties superior to any other down. Eider duck down sticks together to create loft, is extremely rare, and is the softest, lightest, and warmest down in the world. Eider down is rare because it comes from a rare migratory sea bird. Supply and demand dictate that this down will be very expensive.

How does the mother Eider Duck build her nest?

One of the things she does is pluck down from her breast to create a cozy nest for the young chicks. After the young are raised and the mother leaves the down is harvested.  The ducks are not harmed in any way.  This is truly a green product.
